Types of VOIP For Business


There are several ways of incorporating VoIP; with a variety of voice options:

  • IP PBXs
  • Hosted VOIP solutions
  • Broadband IP telephony
  • Voice-enabled IM.

These applications are being used by small business and enterprises. They must first understand how VoIP will work best for them. It may vary by location or circumstance:

Individual remote workers - often using broadband telephone, Vonage-type, AT&T CallVantage or Verizon VoiceWing — that kind of broadband IP solution.

A new location with long-distance calling - an IP PBX or upgrade or modify the existing TDM PBX and IP-enable it.

Considerations

  • Existing PBXs are on a depreciation schedule.
  • Ending TDM Centrex solution contract - may signal a move to IP
  • How to manage how VoIP is used in business

When it comes to VoIP, a lot of IT managers are reluctant to go to a full IP solution. if they lose broadband connectivity, they lose their voice connection.
