Managing IT Development

In the past IT departments have been viewed as a necessary evil, to be tolerated at best and abused when servers go down and desktop upgrades don't roll out fast enough.

Today. successful organizations view IT as an asset, a pathway to future innovation. In most instances, over seventy-five percent of a corporate strategic plan is implemented by the IT department. Yet, in only thirty percent of cases, are IT managers involved in setting corporate strategy.

In spite of this, Chief Information Officers are gaining strength in propelling organizations into competitve positions through IT initiatives.

A successful IT manager, CIO, CTO, Program Manager, will need a comprehensive understanding of not only technology, but business. As IT innovation merges closer and closer to marketing strategy, IT innovation groups are being separated from corporate [enterprise] IT management.

The basic knowledge of any IT manager includes:

  • IT Management 101
  • Developing an IT Strategic Plan
  • Developing an IT Business Plan
  • Managing IT Assets
  • What Makes A Successful CIO
  • Building a Successful IT Organization
  • IT Staff Motivation and Development
  • IT Project Management
  • Acquisition: IT Due Diligence
  • Merging IT Resources
  • Innovation Leadership
  • Web Services
  • Reporting Technologies
