  • FCC looks to be setting up the 700 MHz auctions to include a large number of licenses based on geographic location. Included are: UMTS/HSPDA/HSUPA, CDMA12000 with EV-DO Rev A, LTE (Long-Term Evolution-the follow-on to UMTS), UMB (Ultra-Mobility Broadband - the follow-on to CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Rev A and B), and perhaps WiMAX
  • Google $4.6 billion into the 700-MHz spectrum ring
  • Verizon Wireless cut a deal with Broadcom for supply of phones with the Qualcomm chipset
  • Amp’d filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection
  • Sprint and Clearwire announced a partnership for a full, nationwide WiMAX network service for 100 million people by next year
